Town Hall with Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum Tonight:  Learn about what our councilmember is working on and issues that our district is facing at this Town Hall on November 19th from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at 1701 C Street.  Register with the QR code above.

Survey Results – Development of the Former Building at 30th St & Alhambra between C and D Streets:  Thank you to everyone who submitted a response to our survey on this proposed development.  Here is a summary of responses.

We Want More Input!  MESA Community Survey: MESA has been advocating for our area for the last 4 years.  We have new representation at City Council with our Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum and Mayor Kevin McCarty.  We’d like to get your input on how safe you feel in our neighborhood.  Are there still a lot of concerns you have about livability and vibrancy?  The survey is quick, probably less than two minutes to complete.  Your opinion matters! MESA Member Survey (surveymonkey.com)

McKinley Park Trash Dash November 23rd:  Plan to come out this Sunday for our monthly Trash Dash.  This is our quarterly event sponsored by the City of Sacramento Recycling and Solid Waste division.  This is a very family friendly event, and also a great opportunity for any local students to get community service credits.

Neighborhood Clean-up Grant Awardee:  With the help of Friends of East Sacramento, MESA has received a grant from the city’s Recycling and Solid Waste division to support our Trash Dash quarterly.  We will be focusing on the Northern Alhambra Corridor (B Street to J Street between 28th and Alhambra Blvd).  This of course includes McKinley Park and Miwok Middle School.  Our grant is $800 for this quarter and will cover supplies for our efforts and refreshments.  We’ll have trash grabbers and trash bags.

Come out, meet some new friends and make our neighborhood shiny. Our group will be out there from 10 am until noon, meeting up by the duck pond. Bring work gloves if you have them, and stay hydrated!  For more information on this event please visit the Facebook page here and on Nextdoor here.  And Coffee and Donuts, as well as Pizza is on MESA!

Run to Feed the Hungry: Join us for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services’ 32nd annual Run to Feed the Hungry on Thursday, November 27, 2024! This family-friendly event raises funds and awareness about hunger in our community!  Register here

Nothing Happens Unless Someone Knows There’s a Problem.  Ever wonder why something isn’t being done about an unsafe situation in the area?  If it isn’t reported to the City, it is as if it isn’t happening.  So, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.  We all need to report issues that are happening to create a record of the problem with the city.  If you see something off in your area, report it.  It has been discovered that the only way the City is responding to issues regarding People Experiencing Homelessness (PEH) is if a 311 report is filed.  Call 311, or better yet, use the 311 app to report issues with PEH.  Here’s the link to the app: https://www.cityofsacramento.gov/information-technology/311/sac311-smartphone-app

Don’t Hesitate to Contact 911, Sac Police or Fire When Necessary. If you see something not right in the neighborhood, REPORT IT. We have all seen unsafe conditions in our neighborhood. If you see a situation unfolding that could cause harm to anyone or anything, call 911. If you need to report something to our police force, but it isn’t an emergency situation, please call the SacPD non-emergency number at 916-808-5471. See a fire burning where it shouldn’t? Call Sac Metro Fire’s number at 916-228-3035. If you are having other issues, contact 311. Report issues to 311, but if you know it is an emergency, don’t hesitate—call 911.

DCR Reporting on the Homeless Response:  Want to find out what the city’s doing? Check out the dashboard with all the information on how it’s are addressing the homelessness crisis:  https://app.powerbigov.us/view?r=eyJrIjoiMDU1OGYwMDItM2M4MC00MDlhLWIwMTYtNGNiNDY1ZjRlNDE2IiwidCI6ImUzN2UwMWYyLTU0MWItNGZmZC1iOGQ0LTc2YWVlOGI4YzA4ZCJ9&pageName=ReportSection

Keep Spreading the Word: We continue to be over 300 subscribers strong, and our subscribers are VERY engaged!  We love sharing what’s going on in the neighborhood. Please encourage friends and families to join our mailing list. And remember, if you ever want to unsubscribe, we understand. Just hit the link at the bottom of this email and it will be taken care of.  See you around the neighborhood!
