Vote by June 2nd for The California Primary Election:

Vote Early or On Election Day at the County of Sacramento Voter Registration and Elections Department. Starting 29 days before an election, you may obtain a replacement Vote by Mail ballot at the Elections Office. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. Our office is open until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Voter Registration and Elections
7000 65th Street, Suite A
Sacramento CA 95823

Want to Vote in-person?  Here’s how:

Vote in Person at a Vote Center

You may also vote at a Vote Center beginning 10 days before Election Day.  At a Vote Center, your steps to voting are:

  1. Check-in with the Vote Center staff.

  2. Wait patiently while the Vote Center staff confirms your eligibility to vote.

  3. Tell the Vote Center staff if you would like to vote at the Vote Center or need a replacement ballot to take away and return later (by 8pm on Election Day).

    • You may or may not have to provide personal identification when you vote in-person. Visit the Secretary of State’s website for more information.

  4. Wait for your ballot to print or for your access to an accessible ballot marking device.

  5. Vote for the contests and candidates of your choice. You do not have to vote on every contest listed on your ballot – it is up to you!

  6. When finished voting, insert your voted ballot into the designated ballot box. Your ballot will be counted at the elections main office at 7000 65th Street. The Vote Center staff will give you an “I Voted” sticker – wear it proudly!

All Vote Center locations are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Election Day. As long as you are in line by 8 p.m., you will be able to vote.

Where else can you turn in your ballot?  You can find ballot drop boxes here:  https:// .saccounty.gov/FindBallotDropOff. There is a ballot drop box at McKinley Library.

SacBee Open House for MESA:  You are cordially invited to an open house at The Sacramento Bee newsroom in East Sacramento. It will be a gathering of Midtown-East Sacramento Advocates and Sacramento Bee staffers and leadership.

  • When: Thursday June 11

  • Where: Sacramento Bee newsroom at 1601 Alhambra Blvd, Suite 100

  • What time: 5:30 pm to 7 p.m

The SacBee wants to hear from you, our neighbors and (in some cases) our subscribers.

After a brief welcome, Bee Executive Editor Chris Fusco will share our goals and plans for the year, the history of The Bee and how we’re working to remain the primary news source in Sacramento in a challenging media landscape. We’re trying to tell our story to people like you, who share our love for Sacramento and care about our community. We will welcome your questions and discuss shared concerns and aspirations. We will provide information on how to subscribe and advertise in The Bee.

Refreshments will be served.  We hope you’ll join us.

Please RSVP to mbreton@sacbee.com by end of business on Monday, June 8.  We encourage you to attend—local journalism is important and we want SacBee to hear from us

Upcoming McKinley Park Trash Dashes: Want to help keep McKinley Park beautiful?  Come help at one of our Trash Dashes. We meet up at the Duck Pond in front of the Playground at 10 am and work until high noon.  Here’s when we are out next:

  • June 14

  • July 12

  • August 9

Nothing Happens Unless Someone Knows There’s a Problem.  Ever wonder why something isn’t being done about an unsafe situation in the area?  If it isn’t reported to the City, it is as if it isn’t happening.  So, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.  We all need to report issues that are happening to create a record of the problem with the city.  If you see something off in your area, report it.  It has been discovered that the only way the City is responding to issues regarding People Experiencing Homelessness (PEH) is if a 311 report is filed.  Call 311, or better yet, use the 311 app to report issues with PEH.  Here’s the link to the app: https://www.cityofsacramento.gov/information-technology/311/sac311-smartphone-app

Let Our Councilmember Know: Our Councilmember, Phil Pluckebaum, needs to know the issues we are facing.  Blocked sidewalk along your kid’s walk to school?  Unleashed dogs causing you worry at the park?  Unsafe conditions in the park at night?  Contact Pluckebaum’s office.  Phone is best at 916-808-7004.  Email is ok too (but not responded to timely), and is district4@cityofsacramento.org.  Voicing your concerns at City Council Meetings and at meet and greet events CM Pluckebaum participates in is also encouraged.

Don’t Hesitate to Contact 911, Sac Police or Fire When Necessary. If you see something not right in the neighborhood, REPORT IT. We have all seen unsafe conditions in our neighborhood. If you see a situation unfolding that could cause harm to anyone or anything, call 911. If you need to report something to our police force, but it isn’t an emergency situation, please call the SacPD non-emergency number at 916-808-5471. See a fire burning where it shouldn’t? Call Sac Metro Fire’s number at 916-228-3035. If you are having other issues, contact 311. Report issues to 311, but if you know it is an emergency, don’t hesitate—call 911.

DCR Reporting on the Homeless Response:  Want to find out what the city’s doing? Check out the dashboard with all the information on how it’s are addressing the homelessness crisis:  https://app.powerbigov.us/view?r=eyJrIjoiMDU1OGYwMDItM2M4MC00MDlhLWIwMTYtNGNiNDY1ZjRlNDE2IiwidCI6ImUzN2UwMWYyLTU0MWItNGZmZC1iOGQ0LTc2YWVlOGI4YzA4ZCJ9&pageName=ReportSection

Keep Spreading the Word: We are over 300 subscribers strong, and our subscribers are VERY engaged!  THANK YOU! We love sharing what’s going on in the neighborhood. Please encourage friends and families to join our mailing list. And remember, if you ever want to unsubscribe, we understand. Just hit the link at the bottom of this email and it will be taken care of.  See you around the neighborhood!
