MESA Community Survey:  MESA has been advocating for our area for the last 3 years.  Do you feel safer in our neighborhood?  Are there still a lot of concerns you have about the livability and vibrancy of our community?  We want to hear from you.  The survey is quick—7 questions and should take about 2 minutes.   Your opinion matters MESA Member Survey (surveymonkey.com)

Election Season is Here:  MESA encourages everyone to be active in our local, state and national elections.  Make sure you are registered to vote.  October 21, 2024 is the deadline to register to vote.  To register or check your registration, visit https://covr.sos.ca.gov/.  If you miss the deadline, you can still conditionally register up to Election Day on November 5th.  Find out more here:  https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/same-day-reg

Voter Information:  MESA encourages you to learn about the candidates, propositions and measures on the 2024 ballot.  Here are some links to voter guides.  CalMatters:  https://calmatters.org/california-voter-guide-2024/propositions/ and CapRadio:  https://www.capradio.org/articles/2024/10/07/a-sacramento-voter-guide-for-the-november-2024-election/

City of Sacramento Mayoral Race:  On November 5th we will be voting for our future city mayor.  To learn more about the two candidates, view recent debates here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzTq9rKs_4g and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLntIG-570I

On October 23rd the SacBee and KVIE will be hosting a debate from 2-3 pm on their YouTube channel here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuZebhmEOBs.  To register to attend, view the SacBee article here, link at the bottom.

Streamside Social This Sunday:  The Sacramento Area Creeks Council (SACC) is hosting their inaugural Streamside Social this Sunday from 5 to 8 pm at Camp Pollock.  Want to see what SACC does for our local waterways?  Want to learn cool facts about nature and programs SACC is involved in?  We will have naturalists, ecologists and fellow nature lovers along with local community and political leaders to enjoy the evening with.  Great local wines, beer, cider and food to enjoy, along with a fun silent auction.  Want to join us?  You can find the flyer here.

McKinley Park Trash Dash Dates:  Gearing up for the beautiful fall weather here, we have the following dates scheduled to get out and pick things up around our park.  Plan to join us on October 20th from 10 am until noon.  We will send another reminder.  And on November 24th we will be out with our friends from City Parks and will be bringing coffee and donuts to power us through our efforts, and pizza afterwards.  This is our quarterly “BIG” pick up event made possible by a grant through the city.  We timed it right before Thanksgiving and our fun Run to Feed the Hungry.

SEE SOMETHING – SAY SOMETHING:  If you see something not right in the neighborhood, REPORT IT: We have all seen unsafe conditions in our neighborhood. If you see a situation unfolding that could cause harm to anyone, call 911. If you need to report something to our police force, but it isn’t an emergency situation, please call the SacPD non-emergency number at 916-808-5471. See a fire burning where it shouldn’t? Call Sac Metro Fire’s number at 916-228-3035. If you are having other issues, contact 311. Report issues to 311, but if you know it is an emergency, don’t hesitate—call 911.
