Walk and Roll to Miwok Middle School Day October 16th:  Councilmember Pluckebaum will be joining many of us to celebrate National Walk and Roll to School Day this October.  Every day is a good day for students to walk or roll to school, and this coming October 16th we will be meeting up at 29th St and G Street to walk or roll with students.  We are excited to have the school administration involved, and look forward to having you join us.  We will meet at our spot at 7:45 am, and walk, roll or ride bikes on up to Alhambra and over to Miwok.  If you need parking, Pine Cove is a short walk away.  MESA is thrilled to have our councilmember joining us, and we anticipate we will have some Sac PD bike officers along for the journey too.  To learn about the national program, visit https://www.walkbiketoschool.org/  Come Join Us and Show Our Community that Students’ Safety is Important

Development of the Former Building at 30th St & Alhambra between C and D Streets:  The owners of the property at this location have put plans into the city to develop the location into housing.  This property previously was a sausage factory and then was Mary Ann’s Baking Company which made Otis Spunkmeyer baked goods. For the last two decades the building has been mostly vacant.  The City is reviewing the development proposal.  Several neighborhood groups are discussing the project and determining what the neighborhood desires for the location.  MESA will be sending out more information and a short survey to hear from you about the project.

Nothing Happens Unless Someone Knows There’s a Problem.  Ever wonder why something isn’t being done about an unsafe situation in the area?  If it isn’t reported to the City, it is as if it isn’t happening.  So, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.  We all need to report issues that are happening to create a record of the problem with the city.  If you see something off in your area, report it.  It has been discovered that the only way the City is responding to issues regarding People Experiencing Homelessness (PEH) is if a 311 report is filed.  Call 311, or better yet, use the 311 app to report issues with PEH.  Here’s the link to the app: https://www.cityofsacramento.gov/information-technology/311/sac311-smartphone-app

Don’t Hesitate to Contact 911, Sac Police or Fire When Necessary. If you see something not right in the neighborhood, REPORT IT. We have all seen unsafe conditions in our neighborhood. If you see a situation unfolding that could cause harm to anyone or anything, call 911. If you need to report something to our police force, but it isn’t an emergency situation, please call the SacPD non-emergency number at 916-808-5471. See a fire burning where it shouldn’t? Call Sac Metro Fire’s number at 916-228-3035. If you are having other issues, contact 311. Report issues to 311, but if you know it is an emergency, don’t hesitate—call 911.
