Here are a few talking points:
Cut non-essential programs
Example: Office of Public Safety and Accountability duplicates Internal Affairs findings (~98% overlap) while costing ~$2M annually
Reallocate funding from programs like DCR, the FUEL Network and Climate Action Plan
Reform regulations and project thresholds
Adjust the City’s PLA threshold (currently ~$1M vs. ~$35M federally) to reduce regulatory burden and limit concentrated benefits to select groups, easing costs for taxpayers.
Increase competition to lower costs
Attract more bidders to drive down project expenses, which are currently elevated (PLAs ~25% above prevailing wage; prevailing wage 30–40% above market).
Sacramento residents and business owners want a well-funded, well-equipped, and well-trained police department.
A strong police presence is essential for people to feel safe throughout the city, especially downtown.
Public safety should remain a top priority—when people feel safe, economic development follows.
Ultimately, we all want a clean, safe city for everyone.
