Hi Neighbors,
Here’s what’s going on in our neighborhood.
National Night Out August 2nd at McKinley Park from 7-9 pm. MESA along with the East Sacramento Community Association, East Sac Preservation and East Sac Chamber of Commerce want you to come join us for National Night Out on Tuesday August 2nd from 7-9 pm. We will be enjoying an evening at McKinley Park in front of the Clunie Center (and close to the playground!) MESA, along with support from Sunny’s Market will be hosting an Ice Cream Social. SacPD and Sac Fire officers will be joining us. Please bring the family and friends out for a picnic evening and fun activities for the kids. Bring along your frisbees, jump ropes, and other equipment to have a fun evening with family and friends.
MESA Member Meeting August 2nd at 7 pm: To kick off National Night Out, MESA members are encouraged to come and participate in a member’s meeting. We’ll meet up in front of the Clunie Center to bring up issues we are dealing with in Midtown and East Sac. Bring your questions and lots of ideas to the meeting.
Report Illegal Activity: In the past week MESA has been communicating with our City officials, DCR and our SacPD Captains about suspected criminal activity around the underpasses in the neighborhood. DCR wants to make sure we know to report criminal activity to 311. If there is an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 911. And if it is a police non-emergency matter, please call 916-808-5471. See Something – Say Something. By reporting suspicious or illegal activity we are letting our City know what is going on here. Without speaking up, we won’t experience any reduction in crime.
AARP Walk Audit – Volunteers Needed: AARP has a great audit tool for neighbors to assess and report on the safety and walkability of a street, intersection or neighborhood. With the City proposing all sidewalks having at least 4 feet of clear area for transit, this Audit would be great information for us to have when supporting this City Ordinance at the August 9th Council Meeting. MESA is seeking interested volunteers to participate. For more information on what’s required, please visit: https://www.aarp.org/livable-
Sidewalk Ordinance on City Council Meeting Agenda August 9th: Councilmember Harris has put forward an ordinance for city sidewalks to have 4 feet of clearance in order for the public to use them safely. The ordinance will be discussed and decided on at the August 9th City Council Meeting. MESA appreciates your support of this item, and will keep you posted on any updates prior to the City Council Meeting.
Keep Spreading the Word: Over 220 people subscribe to this newsletter, and we want to keep spreading the word to others in our community. Please encourage friends and families to join our mailing list.
