Casa Loma Terrace – East Sac Neighborhood Association Meeting: Tuesday, January 27th from 7-8:30 PM Join our neighbors to learn about the development plans for the Maryann’s Bakery Site and the Alhambra Blvd storage facility. There will also be presentations from the Sacramento Police and Park Rangers.
City Council Meeting with Newly Appointed City Manager Maraskeshia Smith January 27th 2 pm: Sacramento has a newly appointed City Manager. Plan to attend a City Council meeting to voice your support for clean and safe streets and get involved in city governance. Several neighbors will be attending this meeting to discuss the police department budget, the use of the 102 acres bought in South Sacramento that was earmarked for homeless services and other safety issues. To attend, City Hall is located at 915 I St, Sacramento, CA 95814. If you’d like to speak, you can fill out a speaker slip when you arrive. You can also view the agenda here and put in public comment here.
Volunteers Needed – Point-In-Time Count January 26 and 27: In two weeks the Point-In-Time (PIT) Count will be conducted over two nights. This is an important data collection project to find out how many people are experiencing homelessness in the city, and allow appropriate funding from the county and state to help those who are unhoused in our community. February McKinley Park Trash Dash: On February 22nd from 10 am until noon we will be out with our friends from City Parks and will be bringing coffee and donuts to power us through our efforts, and pizza afterwards. This is our quarterly “BIG” pick up event made possible by a grant through the city. Come join us, and bring some friends–many hands make light work. We will have litter getters, garbage bags and gloves. There will also be many smiling faces to buddy up with and make our park shiny!
This will be held RAIN OR SHINE. Need community service hours? We will sign any forms necessary–thank you for your help! More information can be found on Facebook and Nextdoor. We will meet up in front of the duck pond, near the playground.
Nothing Happens Unless Someone Knows There’s a Problem. Ever wonder why something isn’t being done about an unsafe situation in the area? If it isn’t reported to the City, it is as if it isn’t happening. So, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT. We all need to report issues that are happening to create a record of the problem with the city. If you see something off in your area, report it. It has been discovered that the only way the City is responding to issues regarding People Experiencing Homelessness (PEH) is if a 311 report is filed. Call 311, or better yet, use the 311 app to report issues with PEH. Here’s the link to the app: https://www.cityofsacramento.
Don’t Hesitate to Contact 911, Sac Police or Fire When Necessary. If you see something not right in the neighborhood, REPORT IT. We have all seen unsafe conditions in our neighborhood. If you see a situation unfolding that could cause harm to anyone or anything, call 911. If you need to report something to our police force, but it isn’t an emergency situation, please call the SacPD non-emergency number at 916-808-5471. See a fire burning where it shouldn’t? Call Sac Metro Fire’s number at 916-228-3035. If you are having other issues, contact 311. Report issues to 311, but if you know it is an emergency, don’t hesitate—call 911.
