Sutter’s Landing Special Volunteer Event this Weekend:  Friends of Sutter’s Landing will be moving 72 yards of mulch into the mitigation and restoration sites they have been working on all summer this coming Saturday, August 31st, and Sunday, September 1st.

We need you!  What better way to celebrate Labor Day!

Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1:  8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

If you have a favorite shovel and weeding tool, please bring them.  If you can transport a wheelbarrow that would be super helpful.  Remember to wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and even long sleeved shirts.  Bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle.  FOSL has cold water for refills and snacks.

If you haven’t been to Sutter’s Landing Park in a while, please come out and see the difference Volunteers, County and City Parks Rangers, and the County and City Maintenance Staff have made at Sutter’s Landing these past four years.  The transformation from a River and Parkway suffering under mountains of trash, vandalism, illegal behavior and invasive weeds to a place of beauty and peace is inspiring, and the enthusiasm and persistent tending of our Restoration Leaders, Dan, Kathleen, Mark, and Tom are infectious.  All of this progress only continues with the community’s help and support.

Friends of Sutter’s Landing (FOSL) is looking forward to tending alongside everyone this weekend to keep Sutter’s Landing Park moving forward as a place where people, plants, and animals come together for the benefit of all.
