McKinley Park Trash Dash Tomorrow August 25th: Plan to come out this Sunday for our monthly Trash Dash, and this is our quarterly event sponsored by the City of Sacramento Recycling and Solid Waste division. This is a very family friendly event, and also a great opportunity for any local students to get community service credits.
Neighborhood Clean-up Grant Awardee: With the help of Friends of East Sacramento, MESA has received a grant from the city’s Recycling and Solid Waste division to support our Trash Dash quarterly. We will be focusing on the Northern Alhambra Corridor (B Street to J Street between 28th and Alhambra Blvd). This of course includes McKinley Park and Miwok Middle School. Our grant is $800 for this quarter and will cover supplies for our efforts and refreshments. This grant is intended to help clean up our local areas while also increasing recycling education and efforts. We’ll have trash grabbers and trash bags.
Come out, meet some new friends and make our neighborhood shiny. Our group will be out there from 10 am until noon, meeting up by the duck pond. Bring work gloves if you have them, and stay hydrated! And Coffee and Donuts, as well as Pizza is on MESA! With our grant we have coffee, donuts and pizza covered. An army of volunteers marches on their stomaches, so we want you well fed, energized and hydrated tomorrow. Bring along your thermal cup for hot coffee, hot chocolate or cold water, and stay after our Trash Dash for pizza on us.
National Night Out Was a Huge Success: Earlier this month we scooped 136 ice creams for neighbors and enjoyed the wonderful summer evening. SacPD Captain Moore and his team came out. Thanks for coming out, and for getting to know your community and our law enforcement partners. And MESA wants to thank our other community partners including East Sacramento Preservation, East Sacramento Community Association, Friends of East Sacramento and the East Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. Also, thanks to our great volunteers who scooped all those ice cream cones!
