MESA – August 16, 2022 – Newsletter

Aug 16, 2022

Hi Neighbors,

We have some meetings this week in the neighborhood. Please plan on attending.

Mayor Steinberg Meeting MESA Saturday at McKinley Park: This Saturday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Mayor Steinberg and some of his staff will be meeting MESA at McKinley Park. We are seeking at least 50 engaged members to attend this meeting. It will be at the newly finished Covered Picnic Area by the Tennis Courts. Please RSVP us at info@midtowneastsac.org to let us know you will be there.

Safe Routes to School Zoom Meeting Wednesday at 7 pm: MESA has been working with the City on our Yellow Brick Road project. Kids will be going back to SCUSD schools on September 1st. That gives us 15 days to implement our plan to have a route for Midtown families to get to Sutter Middle School. Please RSVP to info@midtowneastsac.org to attend the meeting and get the ZOOM link. This planning meeting will be important for our efforts and when discussing it with Mayor Steinberg. If you have neighbors who are interested in attending, please have them RSVP to get the link too!

And Some Reminders:

Report Illegal Activity: In the past week MESA has been communicating with our City officials, DCR and our SacPD Captains about suspected criminal activity around the underpasses in the neighborhood. DCR wants to make sure we know to report criminal activity to 311. If there is an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 911. And if it is a police non-emergency matter, please call 916-808-5471. See Something – Say Something. By reporting suspicious or illegal activity, we are letting our City know what is going on here. Without speaking up, we won’t experience any reduction in crime.

Sidewalk Ordinance on City Council Meeting Agenda August 23rd: Councilmember Harris has put forward an ordinance for city sidewalks to have 4 feet of clearance in order for the public to use them safely. The ordinance will be discussed and decided on at the August 23rd City Council Meeting. MESA appreciates your support of this item, and will keep you posted on any updates prior to the City Council Meeting.

Keep Spreading the Word: Over 220 people subscribe to this newsletter, and we want to keep spreading the word to others in our community. Please encourage friends and families to join our mailing list.
