MESA – November 11, 2022 – Newsletter

Nov 11, 2022

Hi Neighbors,

Happy Veterans Day. Here’s a quick message about what’s going on in our neighborhood.

McKinley Park Trash Dash Tomorrow: Come out to our monthly Trash Dash tomorrow and pick things up around our neighborhood. Starting at 10 am by the Duck Pond we’ll be out with our City provided grabbers and trash bags to beautify our park and surroundings. This is a great family friendly event, and will be held rain or shine! For more information, please visit https://fb.me/e/3EDKo4cKQ

Neighborhood Watch: Last week several MESA members and other neighbors met with SacPD, Councilmember Harris and neighborhood watch leads from around the City. Great information was shared, and we are in touch with the community outreach group to get Neighborhood Watch groups set up around here. The leads from other successful watch groups said putting together a watch group of about 10-20 houses is ideal. Several of our neighbors are taking lead roles here. Interested in being involved in Neighborhood Watch? Email info@midtowneastsac.org to be included on future messages.

Yellow Brick Road: At a recent City Council Meeting the Yellow Brick Road (Safe Routes to School) was discussed. Mayor Steinberg said he would work on the program and bring it up at future City Council meetings. Our volunteer group has been in touch with Councilmember Valenzuela’s office to discuss the program and see how the City and District 4 could work with our group to improve the safety of midtown students who travel by foot or bike to and from Sutter Middle School. We have also met with the Sutter PTSO and School Board Trustees Leticia Garcia and Chinua Rhodes about the program and how we could get assistance from SCUSD and the City of Sacramento.

Some Reminders:

Report Illegal Activity: The City of Sacramento and DCR want to make sure we know to report criminal activity to 311. If there is an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 911. And if it is a police non-emergency matter, please call 916-808-5471. See Something – Say Something. By reporting suspicious or illegal activity we are letting our City know what is going on here. Without speaking up, we won’t experience any reduction in crime.

Keep Spreading the Word: Over 250 people subscribe to this newsletter, and we want to keep spreading the word to others in our community. Please encourage friends and families to join our mailing list. And remember, if you ever want to unsubscribe, we understand. Just hit the link at the bottom of this email and it will be taken care of.
